CIV 171 - Surveying I

3 credits
Introduces surveying equipment, procedures and computations including adjustment of instruments, distance measurement, leveling, angle measurement, traversing, traverse adjustments, area computations and introduction to topography. Lecture: 2 hours. Laboratory: 3 hours. Total: 5 hours per week. An additional career and technical education course specific fee of $25.00 per credit hour applies to this course. The price is discounted 50% to $12.50 per credit hour for the 2026-27 academic year only.

Prerequisite(s): Engineering Technical Mathematics or divisional approval.
