WEL 123 - Shielded Metal Arc Welding (Basic)


3 credits
Teaches operation of AC and DC power sources, welding polarities, heats and electrodes for use in joining various metal alloys by the arc welding process. Deals with running beads, butt and fillet welds in all positions. Emphasizes safety procedures Lecture: 2 hours. Laboratory: 3 hours. Total: 5 hours per week. An additional career and technical education course specific fee of $25.00 per credit hour applies to this course. The price is discounted 50% to $12.50 per credit hour for the 2026-27 academic year only.

Prerequisite(s): Pre- or Co-requisites: SAF 130  and WEL 150 .
