PURPOSE: This one-year program prepares students for jobs that install and support CISCO computer networking systems. All career-technical degrees are guided by advisory committees comprised of local business leaders.

CREDENTIALS: A Career Studies Certificate (CSC) is a program of study typically less than one year in length with a major in a career-technical area. Students receiving a CSC intend to pursue immediate employment. This program contains preparation for the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and the PCAP Certified Associate Python certifications.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIAL CONDITIONS: Students must meet Brightpoint admission requirements. New students should work with their New Student Navigator to get ready for their first semester. They can also email getstarted@brightpoint.edu for assistance. Continuing students should work with their faculty advisor on academic planning and graduation requirements.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES: By the completion of this program, students will be expected to demonstrate an introductory level of competency in the following skills:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of skills of IP addressing, VLSM, and network creation.
  2. Communicate effectively in IT environments using research, writing, and presentation skills.
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of troubleshooting and configuring routers and switches.

Students are strongly encouraged to complete their ENG, MTH, and SDV requirements first.

Students should regularly meet with their faculty advisor and check their degree progress by accessing advisement reports in the Student Information System (SIS) in the myBrightpoint portal or the Academic Planner in Navigate.

ITE 290 represents a one-credit internship that will focus on student’s particular track. Students must have completed all coursework or be concurrently completing coursework in present semester for graduation with faculty advisor’s approval.

All information technology courses must be completed within five years of student’s intended graduation date.

Students who have completed the following industry certifications may receive credits toward completion of this program. Meet with faculty advisor for details.

  • CompTIA Linux+ is equivalent to 3 credits for ITN 170    
  • CompTIA Network+ is equivalent to 3 credits for ITN 101    
  • CompTIA A+ or CompTIA IT Fundamentals+ is equivalent to 3 credits for ITE 221    
  • CompTIA Security+ is equivalent to 3 credits for ITN 260  
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner is equivalent to 3 credits for ITN 257
