PURPOSE: To prepare students for entry level positions in heating, air conditioning and refrigeration repair and servicing.

By the completion of this program, students will be expected to demonstrate an introductory level of competency in the following skills:

Demonstrate knowledge of the basic components in the compression refrigeration cycle and the purpose of each component.
Operate oxyacetylene and turbo torch outfits and successfully and braze copper tubing connections with proficiency.
Install required electrical components and electrical wiring of a typical heating and air conditioning system.
Successfully complete the Environmental Protection Agency 608 Technician Certification test, as required by the federal Clean Air Act of 1990.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIAL CONDITIONS: Students must meet JTCC admission requirements. New students should visit the Advising Center and returning students their faculty advisor for more information.

ELE 131 - National Electrical Code I 3 credits
ELE 150 - A.C. and D.C. Circuit Fundamentals 4 credits
