PURPOSE: Prepare students for entry level positions in computer networking.
By the completion of this program, students will be expected to demonstrate an introductory level of competency in the following skills:
- Demonstrate the knowledge and practical skills of Open Systems Interconnection Model, layers, and functions relevant to an IT environment.
- Communicate effectively in IT environments using research, writing, and presentation skills.
- Show knowledge of configuration of services, including DNS and DHCP.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIAL CONDITIONS: Students must meet JTCC admission requirements. New students should visit the Advising Center and returning students their faculty advisor for more information.

NOTES:
1Students with good computer skills may seek to satisfy this requirement by CLEP or internal exam.
2All information technology courses must be completed within five years of student’s intended graduation date.
3Students must have completed all coursework or be concurrently completing coursework in present semester for graduation with advisor’s approval.
4Students should regularly meet with their faculty advisor and check their advisement report in MyTyler – SIS.
