Massage Therapy, CSC

PURPOSE: This program prepares students to sit for the National Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx). Graduates can apply for a massage therapy license and then work in medical facilities such as rehabilitation centers, physician offices, nursing homes as well as recreation facilities such as wellness spas, exercise facilities, and massage franchise offices.

By the completion of this program, students will be expected to demonstrate an introductory level of competency in the following skills:

  1. Demonstrate introductory proficiency in performing various massage techniques.
  2. Explain the roles of equipment, safety, and ethics relevant to the massage therapy industry.
  3. Describe the position, movement, location, and identification of specific bony landmarks, joint structure and design, ligaments, muscle origin, action and innervation, and types of contraction.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIAL CONDITIONS: Students must meet JTCC admission requirements. New students should visit the Advising Center and returning students their faculty advisor for more information.
