ART 195 - Museum Studies: Museums and Controversy 1 credit Museums are not new to controversy, but are having to think more strategically about how they handle controversial content in this divisive era. This course wil explore some of the controversies that museums have faced, and how they have dealt with them, from interpreting enslaved populations to celebrating the Enola Gay. Students will learn how museums engage with controversial content, and how public opinion can have a huge impact on what museums say and cover. Lecture: 1 hour. Total: 1 hour per week.
